ROMATSA

Romanian Air Traffic Services Administration - ROMATSA R.A. - Activity conducted according to international standards

Since 1991, the year of its establishment, the priority objective has been and is the provision of air traffic services for aircraft performing GAT (general air traffic) flights under IFR (instrument flight rules) in the Romanian airspace as well as any other space airline delegated to Romania by international agreements.

ROMATSA ensures:

- organizing and carrying out the management and control of air traffic in order to achieve the obligations set out in Annexes 2 and 11 to ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) of the Chicago Convention;

- organizing and conducting aeronautical information in order to fulfill the obligations set forth in ICAO Annex 15 to the Chicago Convention;

- organizing and carrying out the alarm service for search and rescue the aircraft in difficulty, in order to fulfill the obligations provided in ICAO Annex 12 of the Chicago Convention;

- organizing and conducting aeronautical meteorological information in order to achieve the obligations set forth in ICAO Annex 3 of the Chicago Convention;

- the organization and implementation of aeronautical fixed and mobile telecommunications as well as aeronautical meteorological telecommunications in accordance with the provisions of ICAO Annex 10 to the Chicago Convention;

- organization and implementation of air navigation protection, from a technical point of view, in accordance with the provisions of ICAO Annex 10 of the Chicago Convention;

- organizing and carrying out the endowment according to the provisions of ICAO and of the standards established by EUROCONTROL (European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation) and LCIP (Local Convergence and Implementation Program) ROMANIA;

- ensuring the safety, capacity and operational and economic efficiency of the civil air traffic system, applying the specific regulations in a uniform and fair manner to the air operators and the adjacent air traffic systems, respecting the requirements of environmental protection and national security.

ROMATSA ensures the management and unitary development of aircraft management activities belonging to users or operators, promotes harmonization and integration in the European specialized system (EUROCONTROL), ensures, together with the Ministry of National Defense, the coordinated use of Romanian airspace by civil and military aviation.
