ATS - Air Traffic Services

In accordance with the Annex 11 - the Air Traffic Services, the tasks of the air traffic services provided by ROMATSA are as follows:

a) to prevent the air collision between aircraft;

b) to prevent the ground collision between aircraft on the manoeuvring surface and the blocking of this;

c) to reduce the delays and to maintain a smooth air traffic flow;

d) to provide information and recommendations to the airborne aircraft in view of assuring efficient and safe flight operations;

e) to inform the appointed organizations / units concerned with the aircraft under emergency conditions, whenever these organizations / units are in need of support for search and rescue operations and to grant them assistance, on request.



ATC - Air Traffic Control

In accordance with the Annex 11 - the Air Traffic Services, par. 2.2 , the air traffic control units fulfilling the tasks listed under items a), b) and c) above are: ACC, APP and TWR.



ACC - Area Control Center

As per ICAO Annex 2 - Rules of the Air: A unit established to provide air traffic control service to controlled flights in control areas under its jurisdiction. By them, the tasks stated under items a) and c) are fulfilled, as per Annex 11 - par.2.2.



APP - Approach Control

As per ICAO Annex 2 - Rules of the Air: A unit established to provide air traffic control services to controlled flights arriving at, departing from, one or more aerodromes. By them, the tasks stated under items a) and c) are fulfilled, as per Annex 11 - par.2.2.



TWR - Tower Control

As per ICAO Annex 2 - Rules of the Air: A unit established to provide air traffic control services in the aerodrome area. By them, the tasks stated under items a), b) and c) are fulfilled, as per Annex 11 - par.2.2.

FIS - Flight Information Services

In accordance with the Annex 11 , ROMATSA provides flight information services. By them, the task stated under item d) is fulfilled, as per Annex 11 - par.2.2.
